You'll Find Me On The Winding Road
Coming in hot with five 2018 shoots left to process, and three shoots already under the belt for this year, 2019 feels like it is off to a crazy start.
I was sifting through 2017-2018 albums yesterday while clearing some space on my hard-drives for my late-December photo sessions, when I found a few albums I haven’t actually shared. Some I haven’t viewed since the day I backed-up the original files, and in some cases I’ve only shared a photo or two on Instagram or Facebook. This post is about one such album.
While on our way to Jonkershoek (see this post) for a bit of a hike, I noticed beautiful curves to the road leading from Stellenbosch to the reserve. I knew instantly I had to return to shoot those blissful bends. And as soon as possible.
Four days later I was back to grab a few shots of the curves, shadows, and light, that I love so much. I’m thinking of returning in the Winter, where I might find some ethereal fog or moody weather to accompany the beautiful landscape along this stretch of sublime Stellies tarmac.
I actually like the tree on the left more than the road itself (the initial subject) and in hindsight I think I would have shot a bit wider to get more of the tree and its beautiful foliage into the frame.
And that’s it! I’m really glad I got round to sharing these with you.
I’m aiming to offer a few prints for sale this year, so if you have a few seconds to spare, I would love to hear which is your favourite in the comments below.
