5 Mini Photo-Shoots in 1-Night (I only had f3.5 - f5.6!)
I set myself a real challenge when I missioned out to Long Street without any lights and without using a flash, and without any low-aperture portrait lenses.
This "night photo-shoot challenge" was deliberate and I not only wanted to test myself and my abilities to improvise and adapt but also to see if I could create a different kind of look in various places along vibrant and bustling Long Street. This whole exercise proved to be as much of a challenge "in the field" as it was going to be at my desk.
Varying lighting conditions and situations meant for shifting and changing the approach in terms of how I use my camera, as well as editing & processing techniques after the fact. Needless to say, it was an interesting shoot. Fun, frustrating, challenging, and rewarding, all rolled into one!
I'm going to place each section of the shoot together in bunches/sets so you can get the "feel" of each mini photo-shoot. Let me know in the comments below what you think - I'd love to hear from you.
Which section of the shoot did you like best?
Have you shot low-light with only apertures of f3.5 - f5.6 at your disposal? What was it like?
